School of Pharmacy History

 The South University School of Pharmacy was founded in 2003 and received its inaugural class of 65 students on August 11, 2003 under the guidance of the school’s founding dean, Dr. James E. Wynn.

  • Before graduation, the Pharm. D. student will complete more than 1,600 hours of clinical experience in either institutional or retail settings.
  • The South University School of Pharmacy is one of only three such schools in the state of Georgia.
  • The South University School of Pharmacy was the 89th pharmacy school to be established in the United States.
  • Students complete the program in a fast-paced, full-time 12-quarter schedule, beginning their career nearly a full year in advance of their peers. South University's School of Pharmacy is one of only six accredited schools to offer a three-year accelerated program in the United States.
  • The South University School of Pharmacy faculty come from major universities throughout the U.S. and are recognized for their teaching and research, regionally, nationally and internationally.
