Indiana State University integrates teaching, research, and creative activity in an engaging, challenging, and supportive learning environment to prepare productive citizens for Indiana and the world
Originally founded in 1865 in Terre Haute, Indiana, Indiana State University is rated one of the best colleges in the Midwest by The Princeton Review. Basketball legend Larry Bird is just one of a long list of noted alumni. ISU's School of Nursing, which is accredited by the National League of Nursing (NLN), was established in 1963 and has distinguished itself as one of the nation's premier nursing programs.
Indiana State University has partnered with The College Network to offer two dynamic new programs that enable LPNs and RNs to complete all upper-level nursing courses and earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing entirely online.
The new online LPN to BSN degree at Indiana State University is the only online RN/BSN training program in the country. LPNs and LVNs can earn their NLNAC-accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree without stepping foot in a classroom.
Indiana State University's Baccalaureate Track for Licensed Practical Nurses offers vocational nurses a means through which they may complete a baccalaureate degree in nursing and achieve eligibility to apply to take the RN licensure examination.
ISU's baccalaureate track for licensed practical nurses, vocational nurses, and registered nurses offers classes available via various distance-education methodologies, as well as clinical experiences with preceptors in various health care facilities, arranged collaboratively by the faculty member and the student. Students are held to the same progression, retention, and dismissal policies as student in the four year baccalaureate program of study.
The purpose of the nursing curricula is to prepare an educated person and contributing citizen to function as a competent, caring practitioner of nursing for diverse client populations. This purpose is implemented through the undergraduate and graduate programs.
Individuals can now use The College Network's comprehensive learning materials to pass their college college equivalency exams (CLEP®, DSST®, and Excelsior College® Examinations), and earn their general education and elective college credits (up to 76 credit hours). Individuals can complete their upper-level nursing courses (generally 43 hours) online with ISU. There is No Waiting List and clinical hours can be completed locally with a preceptor.
