Erikson's distance learning programs offer the best preparation you can get to teach and care for young children—delivered directly to your desktop, through online programs specifically designed to fit into your busy life.
Built on the same rigorous, effective, time-tested curriculum as our campus-based courses, our online programs…
Designed especially for early childhood educators with at least three years of post-baccalaureate experience, Erikson's new online master of science degree in early childhood education helps you do what you love to do, and do it better.
It's a structured cohort program, so you'll have peers to collaborate with and learn from. And it's online, so you can work at home, in the office, in the early morning, or late at night—wherever and whenever you want.
Erikson Institute is the nation's premier graduate school in child development. Since 1966, we've prepared professionals to understand and meet the changing needs of young children and their families. We focus exclusively on children from birth to age eight—the most important formative years.
Erikson Institute is regionally accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
Benefit from the school's distance learning programs which offer students the best preparation they can get to teach and care for young children. The Master of Science in Early Childhood Education program is designed for early childhood educators with at least three years of post-baccalaureate experience, and helps them do what they love better. It is designed to give graduates a deeper understanding of how children grow and learn and of the role their families, communities, and culture play in their development and success. Students learn in a structured cohort model which gives them the chance to collaborate and continually learn from their peers while completing the program entirely online. All students will also benefit from Erikson's unmatched educational experience that combines comprehensive knowledge of child development, opportunities to put that knowledge into practice and a critical third component—an emphasis on professional self-awareness. This self-awareness will include time examining your values, biases, habits, and techniques as well as questioning, self-assessing, and continually developing yourself and your practice. This leads to more respected and successful educators in the field of early childhood education.
Erikson Institute recognizes the importance of realistic and careful planning as you consider the options available to you for financing your education. They know that paying for an education is a major investment in you career and professional future, and they work hard to put the skills and knowledge you seek within your financial reach. Each year, approximately three-fourths of Erikson students receive financial assistance which a larger share than at most schools. All Master's students have the opportunity to pursue a number of generous fellowships and scholarships each year which are awarded based on demonstrated financial need, a record of academic success, potential for leadership in the field and the specific criteria for each respective scholarship or fellowship. There are also need-based grants and federal student loans available for students in need. Erikson provides a great deal of helpful financial aid links online and their Financial Aid Office is always willing to help over the phone or via e-mail.
