Recognized for academic excellence since its founding in 1948, Brandeis University is ranked in the top tier of the nation's universities. Brandeis combines the faculty and resources of a world-class research institution with the intimacy and personal attention of a small liberal arts college.

The Rabb School Division of Graduate Professional Studies

The Division of Graduate Professional Studies distance learning program delivers the same level of academic excellence found in its on-campus programs with the additional convenience and flexibility of an online format. Our creative and flexible approach to graduate education provides individuals the opportunity to advance their education while also balancing career and personal commitments.

Course Structure

GPS distance learning (DL) courses are Internet-based, innovative and flexible. They are asynchronous, with weekly assignments and participation requirements, but no required day or time during which students must be online. Most students are able to fully participate regardless of their location or schedule.

Classes follow a ten-week course schedule with instructors assigning discussion questions, homework and/or projects each week. Students have direct contact with their instructors and peers on a daily basis, using such tools as the discussion bulletin board, chat rooms, e-mail, the assignments tool, and other features offered in our customized learning management system.

Excellent Faculty

Distance learning courses are taught by the same experienced faculty members who also teach on campus. Our experienced faculty members are practicing professionals who bridge the gap between in-depth academic theory and the dynamic application of knowledge and skills required by today's changing industries and emerging fields. In addition, they have been trained in distance learning teaching methods, and they strive to create a collaborative learning environment in their online courses.

Rigorous, Respected Curriculum

Quality Course Content — We offer a cutting-edge curriculum which is constantly evolving according to the needs of its industry. Our courses combine theory and practice, allowing students to immediately apply what they learn in their courses to their workplace environment.

Vast Research and Reference Materials

Students enrolled in distance learning courses automatically have access to both our on-campus libraries as well as our extensive online libraries.

The Libraries at Brandeis offer over a million volumes and over 20,000 print and electronic journals for the research process. They utilize an automation system known as Library Online User Information System (LOUIS), an online catalog of library and reserve materials. A variety of computerized databases are also stored via CD-ROM in the main and science Libraries should you be able to visit the campus. Through OCLC, an international network of over 10,000 libraries, students have access to an online database of almost 30,000,000 cataloging records. Brandeis also participates in the Boston Library Consortium, an access network of 12 academic and research institutions in Massachusetts.
